NGVFA supporter Kate Wright has taken on the incredible task of climbing Africa's tallest mountain, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, for the NGVFA!
Its total height above sea level stands at an incredible 19,334 feet, but Kate is laughing in the snow capped face of what she refers to as "a little hill", even going on to mock its prowess with this stinging analogy "Jack and Jill could make it up this mountain without any problems at all".
Of course despite her confidence this isn't an easy climb and there are real dangers from altitude sickness, high winds, and low temperatures. Around 10 climbers are estimated to lose their lives each year attempting Kilimanjaro.
She is currently acclimatising to the environment with some relaxation and fishing, which should help with avoiding altitude sickness, before beginning her ascent towards the end of July.
Kate can be sponsored through her online Just Giving page which is linked directly to the NGVFA -
